Characteristics

Habit: slender climbers, stems red-brown, sparsely hairy, prominent lenticels. Leaves: intermediate leaves apically dentate, almost tri-lobed; adult leaves clustering, linear, 50–85 mm long, 4–6 mm wide; base narrowing to a distinct petiole 5–10 mm long. Inflorescences branched umbels; twining rachis 30–85 mm long; peduncles, pedicels 10–12 mm long. Sepals 2–3 mm long, linear, acicular, caducous; petals 10–12 mm long, free, elliptic, narrowing into a short white throat, margins incurving, apices recurving from about the middle, outer surface white, prominent purple venation, inner surface bluer, all darkeningand not developing contrasting spots and blotches. Stamens free, filaments placement apparently regular, but at unequal heights; cream; anthers ovoid, white with a blue stipe, eventually blue; pollen yellow-pink. Pistil stipitate, ovary inflated, bladder shaped; style equal to or less than ovary length, minutely capitate. Fruit not seen. Peak flowering April-May (autumn).
