Characteristics

Trees evergreen, ca. 15 m tall, 15-20 cm in diam. Bark smooth. Young branches white lenticellate. Leaves 2-pinnately compound, ca. 60 cm; leaf axis terete, striate; petiolule of lateral leaflets ca. 5 mm, that of terminal leaflet ca. 3 cm; leaflets ovate to ovate-lanceolate, 8-12 X 2.5-4 cm, glabrous, base broadly cuneate, oblique, margin entire, apex long acuminate; lateral veins 5 or 6 on each side of midrib. Inflorescences short racemose, borne on old stems or short lateral branches, 5-13-flowered; peduncle 2-4 cm. Pedicel 5-10 mm. Calyx tubular, spathelike, ca. 10 X 7 mm, puberulent abaxially. Corolla orange-yellow to golden yellow, tubular, 6-7 X 1.5-1.8 cm; lobes semirounded, ca. 5 mm, reflexed. Stamens subequal; filaments ca. 4.5 cm, puberulent at base; anthers connective elongated into a mucro. Style ca. 6 cm; stigma 2-lobed. Capsule long linear, nodding, ca. 45 cm X 7 mm; valves thin leathery; septum narrow, terete, woody. Seeds ovoid, thin membranous, including wings 1.3-1.6 cm. Fl. Feb-May, fr. May-Sep.
