Characteristics

Tree to 12 m high. Leaves opposite or subopposite, simple, 6.5–16 cm long; petiole 0.5–2.5 cm long; lamina narrowly elliptic or narrowly elliptic-obovate, 6–14 cm long, 1.7–4.5 cm wide; secondary veins 13–17 on each side of midrib, divergent at angle of c. 60°. Inflorescences 1–several-flowered, to 2 cm long; pedicels obsolete or to 2 mm long. Sepals 1.5–2 mm  long, abaxially densely appressed-puberulous, accrescent to c. 3 mm long in fruit. Petals c. 5 mm long, distinct, cream, abaxially densely appressed-pubescent, adaxially puberulous in c. distal 1/2, subpersistent and accrescent to c. 6.5 mm long in fruit. Staminal filaments distinct, villous at margin; antisepalous ones glandular-muricate towards apex. Stigma capitate. Follicles c. 6.5 mm long.
