Characteristics

Epiphytic glabrous shrub up to 1 m. high; roots thick, fleshy.. Leaf-lamina lanceolate-elliptic to elliptic, 3.5–12.5 cm. long, 1.5–4 cm. wide, acuminate, narrowed to the shortly cordate or almost auriculate base; midrib and 1–3 pairs of longitudinal nerves slightly raised above, subprominent beneath; petiole 2–4 mm. long.. Inflorescence 1–20-flowered from axils of current and fallen leaves.. Flowers 4-merous.. Calyx campanulate, 2–2.5 mm. long, 4.5 mm. in diameter; lobes little developed, ± 0.5 mm. high.. Petals oblanceolate, 6 mm. long, 3 mm. wide, white or red.. Anthers 1.5–2.2 mm. long; connective produced immediately below the anther into 2 erect anterior spurs and 1 pendent posterior spur; filament 3–4 mm. long.. Fruit globose, 6 mm. in diameter.
