A small ± glabrous shrub or woody herb up to 1.5 m. tall.. Bark whitish, streaked with brown.. Young shoots usually strongly angled and channelled, sometimes slightly scabrous on the angles, greenish.. Older twigs subterete.. Leaves shortly to long-petiolate, the petioles 0.1–1(–1.3) cm. long; leaf-blade ovate or elliptic, (0.6–)1–4 cm. long, 0.4–2.5(–3.5) cm. wide, acute, subacute or obtuse at apex, subcuneate or rounded at base, membranous or thinly chartaceous, lateral nerves 4(–7) pairs, midrib and main nerves scarcely prominent above, slightly so beneath, green and often with a white median blotch above, somewhat glaucous beneath.. Stipules lanceolate, 1.5–3 mm. long, acutely acuminate, fimbriate-toothed towards the base, scarious.. Fascicles bisexual.. Male flowers: pedicels (3–)6–8(–13) mm. long; sepals suborbicular, 1–1.5 mm. long, thin, whitish; disc 1.2 mm. in diameter, partially adnate to the calyx; stamens with the filaments united for 2/3 their length; staminal column 0.7 mm. long; anthers 0.3 mm. long; pistillode 3-lobed or subentire.. Female flowers: pedicels extending to 1–2.8 cm. long in fruit, arising from a distinct podium 0.3 mm. long; sepals triangular-ovate, 1.3 mm. long, 1 mm. wide, acute, slightly carinate, greenish white or greenish yellow; ovary 1 mm. diameter; style-branches capitate, 0.3 mm. long.. Fruits 2 mm. long, 3.5–4 mm. diameter.. Seeds 1.5–1.7 mm. long, deeply longitudinally grooved, with pits along the grooves, brownish.
