Leaves scattered, ovate-lanceolate, 0.4–2.5 cm long, 2–6 mm wide, acute with a pungent point, often twisted and concave above, 15–30-veined.. Inflorescence few–many-flowered, dense, sometimes leafy; upper axillary, terminal or subterminal spikes with flowers single or in threes.. Calyx-lobes with pungent points.. Petals white, 1–2 mm long.. Staminal bundles white with claw 3–4 mm long and 13–26 filaments.
