Characteristics

Climbing herb to 2 m high; stems appressed-pilose, glabrescent.. Leaves ovate, 2.5–13 cm long, 1.5–9 cm wide, base abruptly cuneate, margins serrate-crenate, apex acute to acuminate, scabrid on both surfaces, 3-veined from base; petiole to 3 cm long.. Capitula terminal, solitary or 2–3 together on stalks up to 10 cm long; involucre 8–13 mm long, phyllaries 2–3-seriate, ovate to elliptic, white-pilose; paleae oblong, acuminate.. Ray florets ± 10, yellow, tube 2.7 mm long, glabrous, ray ± 14 mm long and minutely pilose on the veins abaxially, style 3.8–5.5 mm long; disc florets yellow, tube 4.2–6 mm long, glabrous, lobes ± 1 mm long, pilose.. Achenes grey-black, obovoid, 2.7–3.5 mm long, slightly 3-angled, puberulous; pappus absent.
