Upright shrub, generally to 2 m. Leaves ovate, predominantly 5-veined; lamina c. 6–12 cm long and 3.5–6 cm wide. Inflorescence terminal or axillary, paniculate, crowded to somewhat lax, to 7-flowered, rarely more. Hypanthium c. 5–6 mm long and 4–5 mm diam., moderately to densely covered with simple or, more usually, multifid or fascicled hairs. Calyx lobes narrowly oblong to triangular, moderately to densely pubescent. Petals white. Stamens: anthers linear, 2–3 mm long; connective prolongation 0.2 mm long, and bilobed appendage 0.5 mm long. Ovary summit densely pubescent. Fruit c. 7 mm long and 6 mm diam., red.
