Characteristics

Stem flexuous, erect, simple or branched above, terete, glabrous at the base; leaves linear, acuminate, narrow, subdenticulate with cartilaginous margins; flowers pedicellate, often subpanicled; tube of calyx hairy or glabrous, spherical; lobes linear, nearly as long as the corolla; capsule spherical, obtusely 5-angled, 3 times shorter than the calycine lobes.
