Characteristics

Shrub to 2 m; stem little branched, straw-coloured to reddish brown, terete to sub-angled, glabrous to pubescent, more densely so at nodes, with simple, short, multicellular hairs.. Leaves opposite, with petiole 0.6–3.3 cm, blade distinctly sagittate, 1.5–6.3(–9.5) cm long, 0.4–3.2 cm wide, margins minutely toothed to serrate, apex long-acuminate, upper surface glabrous to very sparsely pubescent, lower surface glandular-punctate, glabrous to pubescent usually with 3 distinct and 2 less distinct veins originating from the base.. Inflorescence a dense, leafy corymb on an axillary peduncle 3.5–9.3 cm long, branched, clusters of capitula in panicles; capitula 6–8 mm long, 1.5–2 mm diameter; stalks of individual capitula up to 6 mm long, becoming pendulous after fruit dispersal; phyllaries equal, light green, sometimes with lilac tinge, chaffy, lanceolate, boat-shaped, 3-veined, 4–7 mm long, 1–1.5 mm wide, apical margins fimbriate, glabrous to sparsely hairy at base.. Corolla 3.5–4.5 mm long, dull white, with scattered glands, lobes acute, less than 1 mm long, margins thickened; anthers purplish, with white, lanceolate appendages, protruding beyond corolla lobes; style-arms exserted for ± 2–3 mm.. Achenes brown-black, 1–2 mm long, glandular, carpopodium evident, cream to straw-coloured; pappus 3–5 mm long, barbellate, connate at base, ± spreading.
