Robust perennial climber several m long, branched; stem semi-succulent, sparsely tomentellous in young parts, glabrescent, glandular.. Leaves fleshy, broadly ovate, 5–9.5 cm long, 3–8.1 cm wide, base often cordate, rarely obtuse, margins usually irregularly sinuate-dentate, rarely entire, apex acute to broadly acuminate, glabrous or with remnants of floccose indumentum at least at the base and along midrib; palmately 5–6-veined from the base; petiole 2.8–5.9 cm long.. Capitula in terminal and axillary simple or paniculate corymbs, subsessile, disciform; stalk of individual heads 6–20 mm long; involucre obconic, 4.5–6(–9) mm long; bracts of calyculus 3–5, lanceolate, 1.6–4 mm long, glabrous; phyllaries 7–10, linear-oblong, 4.3–6 mm long, glabrous but shortly hairy at the apex.. Florets ± 8–12, outer 4–6 female, with corollas often shorter than the inner, inner hermaphrodite; corollas orange-yellow, white inside, 5.5–7(–10) mm long; lobes 1.3–2 mm long; style-arms with very short obtuse appendages.. Achenes subcylindrical, 1–2.4 mm long, ribbed, glabrous; pappus 5.4–11 mm long, silvery white.
