Characteristics

Leaves with petiole 0·2-0·6 cm. long, prickly; rhachis 8-19 cm. long, prickly; pinnae 10-15 pairs; leaflets 8-13 pairs, 3-6 x 1-2 mm., narrowly oblong, with a very few appressed hairs on both surfaces towards the base, otherwise glabrous, venation pinnate, ± visible beneath.

Flowers sweetly scented, in subglobose heads c. 1 cm. in diam., on puberulous very sparsely prickly peduncles c. 2 cm. long, 1-3 together from axils, not conspicuously aggregated into a panicle.
Climber; stems slender, ± appressed-puberulous, slowly glabrescent, sparsely to densely armed with downwardly hooked prickles up to 2·5 mm. long.
Pods 7-9 x 1·2-6 cm., ± curved, with recurved prickles, sometimes sparse, on margins only.
