Characteristics

Herbs, 3-30 cm tall. Primary root to 7 cm. Leaves mostly basal; petiole to 1.3 cm; leaf blade narrowly spatulate, to more than 4 cm, fleshy and thick, base narrowly cuneate, margin subentire with few inconspicuous teeth, apex obtuse. Leaves on flowering stems 3 or 4 pairs; leaf blade linear-lanceolate, 0.8-2.5 cm, base somewhat amplexicaul, apex obtuse. Racemes to 20 cm, sometimes basally branched, more than 20-flowered per stem; bracts shorter than pedicel, to 2 cm basally on inflorescence. Pedicel in fruit to 2.6 cm. Calyx ca. 5 mm, ca. 8 X 4.5 mm in fruit, main veins 5; lobes recurved near apex. Capsule ca. 5 mm, included. Seeds brown.
