Bractlets of the epicalyx 3, linear to obovate; carpels numerous, at maturity hispid and 2-horned at the summit, dehiscent, with thin lateral walls, 2-seeded, the seeds separated by a triangular partial septum intruded from the outer wall; annual or biennial with divided lvs and small red-purple fls. Monospecific.
Procumbent herb. Lvs variously palmately divided. Epicalyx segments 3, free to base; calyx evenly 5-toothed; petals spreading, obtuse. Style-branches as many as loculi, filiform. Fr. of numerous, 2-3-seeded, awned cells arranged in a single flat whorl, dehiscent and separating from central axis.
