Leaf-blade broadly ovate-cordate in outline, subglabrous except on nerves beneath, usually ± punctate, acute and apiculate, almost entire to distinctly sinuate-toothed, 65–122 mm. long, 50–110 mm. broad, sometimes palmately 3-lobed; lobes triangular; petioles pubescent, 20–60 mm. long, the base persistent and somewhat thickened after leaf-fall.. Tendrils simple.. Dioecious.. Male flowers in usually much-branched many-flowered pseudopanicles or less often racemes, 20–120 mm. long, pubescent especially on the pedicels, ebracteate or bearing a few stalked linear to broadly lanceolate leaf-like bracts at the forks; primary peduncles 4–80 mm. long; pedicels 2.5–7 mm. long; receptacle-tube short, broad, ribbed, 2–3 mm. long; lobes triangular or triangular-acuminate, black, 1–10 mm. long; petals white with black nerves below, oblong, rounded, 7–11 mm. long, 2.5–6 mm. wide, 2 with incurved scales inside at the base; stamens 2, alternate with the scales, the triple stamen sometimes replaced by a pair, then stamens 3; thecae slightly curved, almost horizontal..
