Climbing shrub several m. long; young shoots at first with spreading short ferruginous hairs, later dark purplish-brown, ridged, lenticellate and somewhat pubescent, probably eventually glabrous.. Leaf-blades oblong or elliptic-oblong, with a slight tendency to be obovate, 2–5 cm. long, 1–2.4 cm. wide, rounded but sometimes minutely apiculate at the apex, rounded to slightly subcordate at the base, thin, sparsely but persistently adpressed pubescent above and rather more densely so beneath, very densely and distinctly pellucid-punctate; venation reticulate, finely raised on both surfaces; lateral nerves regular and clearly raised beneath and margin rather thickened; petiole 1–3 mm. long, pubescent.. Flowers hermaphrodite, solitary, extra-axillary; pedicels 1.2–2 cm. long, pubescent; bracteole rounded, ± 2 mm. long and wide, near the base or about half-way along the pedicel.. Sepals transversely elliptic to reniform, 3–3.5 mm. long, 4–4.5 mm. wide, sparsely pubescent outside, glabrous inside.. Petals yellow; outer elliptic, ± 1 cm. long, 8 mm. wide, puberulous outside and around the margin inside; inner elliptic, subacute and not thickened at the apex, 8 mm. long, 4.5–6.5 mm. wide, puberulous outside, glabrescent inside.. Stamens 24–27, cuneiform, 1.2 mm. long; filaments shorter than the anthers; connective truncate, papillate.. Carpels 8; ovary conic, 1.2 mm. long, densely spreading pilose, 2-ovuled; style obliquely obconic, rather like a horse’s hoof upside down, 0.5 mm. long.. Fruit not known (see note).
