Scandent shrub or liane 1–6 m. tall; young branches ferruginous tomentose, later glabrescent.. Leaf-blades oblong, elliptic or ovate-oblong, (3–)8–16.5 (–18.5) cm. long, (1.1–)3.5–7.5 cm. wide, acute, distinctly acuminate or somewhat rounded at the apex, broadly cuneate or rounded at the base, rather thin, discolorous, green and glabrous above save when very young, entirely covered with adpressed silky, silvery or brownish hairs beneath; petioles 3–5 mm. long, channelled, ferruginous tomentose.. Flowers solitary or in very short 2–4-flowered cymes, axillary or supra-axillary; peduncle 1–5 mm. long, ferruginous tomentose; pedicels 4–7 mm. long, tomentose; bracts lanceolate, 1 cm. long, 2.5 mm. wide, glabrous inside, tomentose outside; bracteoles ovate, 2–3 mm. long, 1.5–2 mm. wide, glabrous above, tomentose beneath.. Sepals 2–3, broadly ovate-triangular, 1.5–2 mm. long and wide, ferruginous pubescent.. Petals white or yellowish, fleshy, mostly 6, rarely 4–5, ovate-elliptic, 4–5 mm. long, 1–3.5 mm. wide, ferruginous pubescent outside.. Stamens 8–12, obconic, ± 1 mm. long, the connective truncate.. Carpels 12–24; ovary ellipsoid, 0.5–1 mm. long, adpressed pubescent, with l–2(–3) ovules; stigma subsessile, horseshoe-shaped, bilobed.. Fruiting pedicels 0.5–1 cm. long.. The fruit are in groups of 6-8. They are 1-2 cm long on stalks 1 cm long. There is one seed in each fruit. The fruit are covered with rusty hairs.
