Characteristics

Diffuse annuals to 60 cm high, with single stem at the base. Stems up to 5 mm across; young branchlets smooth. Leaves narrowly ovate, narrowly obovate or narrowly elliptic, 12–50 mm long, 4–13 mm wide, flat, with margins coarsely toothed with acute-tipped teeth, apex acute to obtuse, smooth adaxially; stipules 0.8–1.5 mm long. Inflorescences sessile or pedunculate; peduncles 0.2–0.3 mm across. Male flowers: calyx lobes ovate-elliptic, 0.9–1.5 mm long; petals reniform, 0.6–0.9 mm long, apex rounded; staminal filaments 1.1–1.5 mm long; connective tissue up to 0.1 mm long; rudimentary ovary absent. Female flowers: calyx lobes narrowly ovate to ovate, 1.1–1.7 mm long; petals absent; styles 2-lobed; lobes c. two-thirds the length of style. Fruit ellipsoid, 2.5–2.7 mm diam., ± smooth. Seeds obloid to ellipsoid.
