Characteristics

Plants 400-600 mm high, often with fibrous collar around base. Corm 14-20 mm diam.; tunics of brown fibres. Stem simple or 1-or 2-branched, sheathing leaves 3 or 4, with dry brown, attenuate apices, 40-60 mm long. Foliage leaf solitary, basal, channelled, linear, exceeding stem, often dry and broken distally. Rhipidial spathes with dry, brown, attenuate apices, inner 50-70 mm long, outer ± 2/3 as long. Flowers long-lived, white to creamy yellow, outer tepal limbs with narrow, deep yellow nectar guides at bases, spreading or laxly reflexed; outer tepals 30-35 x ± 15 mm, limb 15-20 mm long, claws as long to slightly shorter, darkly speckled, smooth; inner tepals vestigial, 5-7 mm long, hair-like, sometimes obscurely 3-lobed distally. Filaments ± 7 mm long, united below, free and diverging in upper 1 mm; anthers 5-6 mm, white; pollen white. Ovary ± cylindric, 7-9 mm long; style branches ± 7 mm long, crests ± linear, 7-8 mm long. Capsules and seeds unknown.

Ovary ± cylindric, ± 10 mm long; style branches up to 7 mm long; crests slender, up to 8 mm long. Flowering time Dec.-Mar.
