Characteristics

Plants slender, 250-300 mm high. Corm 10-12 mm diam.; tunics or hard, brown, thickened fibres. Stem simple or occasionally branched, sheathing leaves with dry, brown apices, 35-40 mm long. Foliage leaf solitary, basal, linear, channelled, glabrous, exceeding stem or trailing, 1.5-2.5 mm wide. Rhipidial spathes with dry, brown attenuate apices, inner ± 40 mm long, outer ± 1/2 as long. Flowers long lasting, pale violet, outer tepal limbs with white nectar guides edged with dark violet and dark, purple-brown claws, spreading; outer tepals lanceolate, 18-20 x ± 13 mm, claws ± 8 mm long; inner tepals either entire, ± lanceolate or with limbs becoming ± 3-lobed distally, ± 15 x 10 mm. Filaments 3-4 mm long, united in a slender column finely hairy at base; anthers ± 4 mm long, violet; pollen pale mauve. Ovary ovoid-cylindric, ± 7 mm long; style branches 4-5 mm long, crests 4-5 mm long, narrowly wedge-shaped. Capsules ovoid-elliptic, ± 12 mm long. Seeds unknown.
