Characteristics

Plants 250-350 mm high. Corms ± 15 mm diam.; tunics of pale fibres. Stem glabrous, sometimes 1-branched. Foliage leaf solitary, basal, linear, glabrous, exceeding stem, channelled, often trailing distally. Rhipidial spathes with dry, brown, attenuate apices, inner 50-70 mm long, outer ± 1/2 as long. Flowers long-lived, white, flushed blue-mauve outside, outer tepal limbs with prominent nectar guide of concentric crescents of dark purple, blue violet or green, spreading; outer tepals 30-35 x ± 25 mm, claws suberect, densely velvety, ± 12 mm long, limbs ± orbicular; inner tepals 15-20 mm long, 3-lobed, lateral lobes short, obtuse, central lobe ± linear, ± trailing. Filaments 3-4 mm long, united below in a glabrous column, free near apex; anthers ± 5 mm long, blue; pollen orange. Ovary ± cylindric, ± 10 mm long; style branches 7-8 mm long, crests 6-7 mm long, narrowly triangular. Capsules ± club-shaped, 15-20 nm long. Seeds angular, with spongy testa.
