Characteristics

Plants slender, 500-1000(-1200) mm high. Corms 14-20 mm diam.; tunics of medium to coarse, light brown fibres. Stem several-branched mostly from upper nodes, branches slender, upright, sheathing leaves with dry, brown, attenuate apices, 60-100 mm long. Foliage leaf solitary, basal, linear, 5-10 mm wide, exceeding stem, erect below, trailing distally. Rhipidial spathes long attenuate, with dry, brown tips, inner 50-70 mm long, outer ± 1/2 as long. Flowers long-lived, yellow, darkly speckled on tepal claws, outer tepal limbs with speckled markings at bases, ± spreading, curving upward distally; outer tepals 22-33 x 14-18 mm, claw 9-13 mm long, broad, veined and speckled, limb ± as long as wide, inner tepals 3-lobed, 8-10 mm long (excluding inner cusp), usually ± 4 mm at widest, lateral lobes short and obtuse, inner linear, 2-4 mm long, coiled inward obliquely. Filaments 3-5 mm long, united in a column, diverging in upper 1 mm; anthers 4-5 mm long, dull yellow-brown; pollen yellow. Ovary ± cylindric, 8-10 mm long, exserted; style branches ± 6 mm long, crests 3-5(-8) mm long, narrowly triangular. Capsules club-shaped, 12-15 mm long. Seeds angular, prismatic.

Petals erect, trifid, 8–10 mm long; central lobe acute, incurved; lateral lobes shorter, obtuse. Filaments 3–5 mm long, three-quarters connate; anthers 4-5 mm long, yellow. Style branches c. 6 mm long; crests narrowly triangular, 3–6 mm long. Capsule clavate, c. 1.5 cm long, erect.
