Characteristics

Plants 70-200 mm high. Corm mostly 12-20 mm diam.; tunics of coarse black fibres usually extending upwards in a collar around base. Stem simple or few-branched, branches ascending, exserted from subtending sheathing leaf, sheathing leaves dry, ± membranous, 20-30 mm long. Flowers fugaceous, yellow, outer tepal limbs with large, deep yellow nectar guides at bases, inner tepals, style branches and crests paler yellow than outer tepals or white; outer tepals 26-33 x 11-13 mm, broadly lanceolate, ± half reflexed; inner tepals ± 25 mm long, limbs also reflexed. Filaments 10-12 mm long, united in lower ± 2/3; anthers ± 6 mm long, yellow; pollen white. Ovary narrowly ellipsoid, 6-8 mm long, included; style branches ± 10 mm long, crests 10-15 mm long, broadly lanceolate. Capsules narrowly ellipsoid, 12-15 mm long. Seeds not known.
