Plants 30-70 cm. high.. Corm 1.5-3 cm. in diameter, the tunics of medium to coarse fibres forming a dense mass.. Cataphylls pale, often broken or fibrous above.. Foliage leaves 2, the lower basal and larger, ± as long or slightly longer than the stem, linear, channelled, 4-7 mm. wide.. Stem simple or with a single branch, only 2 internodes long, thus without sheathing leaves.. Rhipidial spathes dry along the upper margins and at the apices, the inner 4.5-5.5 cm. long, the outer ± 2/3 as long.. Flowers dark blue to purple in the centre, the tepal limbs fading to white.. Outer tepals 3-3.5 cm. long, the limbs ± twice as long as the claws; inner tepals 2.5-3.2 cm. long, spreading.. Filaments ± 8 mm. long, free in the upper third; anthers ± 6 mm. long.. Ovary 5-7 mm. long, usually barely exserted from the spathes, the style-branches 8-10 mm. long, 7-9 mm. wide, spreading horizontally, the crests 5-7 mm. long.. Capsules unknown.
