Plants slender, 150-400 mm high. Corm ± 10 mm diam.; tunics of light brown, relatively fine fibres. Stem 2 or 3 internodes long, laxly 1-to 3-branched, rarely simple, sheathing leaves becoming dry at flowering, 45-60 mm long. Foliage leaf solitary, basal, linear, softly hairy on abaxial surface, exceeding stem and trailing distally, 2.5-3.5 mm wide, margins ciliate. Rhipidial spathes becoming dry and brown near tips, long attenuate, sometimes ± lacerated, inner 40-55 mm long, outer ± half as long. Flowers long-lived, ± violet fading to pale mauve and becoming speckled, outer tepal limbs with white nectar guides with purple central spot at bases, ± half reflexed; outer tepals ± lanceolate, ± 20 mm long, claws ± 1/2 as long, velvety; inner tepals ± 10 mm long, erect, slender, usually 3-lobed distally with central cusp much exceeding lateral lobes. Filaments ± 4.5 mm long, united in lower half; anthers ± 5 mm long, pale mauve; pollen yellow. Ovary ± cylindric, 6-8 mm long; style branches ± 7 mm long, crests ± 3 mm long. Capsules narrowly ovoid-club-shaped, 10-12 mm long. Seeds small, angled.
