Characteristics

Plants 300-500 mm high. Corm 10-15 mm diam.; tunics of dark brown, wiry fibres. Stem few-branched at upper nodes, sheathing leaves 25-35 mm long, dry, pale below, with dark attenuate tips. Foliage leaf solitary, terete, hollow, usually straight, ± 3 mm diam., exceeding stem. Rhipidial spathes usually becoming dry above, attenuate, dark brown, inner 30-35 mm long, outer ± 2/3 as long. Flowers fugaceous, blue-mauve, all tepals with yellow-orange nectar guides at bases of spreading limbs; tepals subequal, 16-18 mm long, inner slightly smaller than outer, claws ± 2 mm long, ascending. Stamens free, filaments ± 4 mm long, suberect; anthers ± 4.5 mm long, straight in bud, becoming incurved after anthesis. Ovary ± 3 mm long; style branches filiform, extending between filaments, ± 2.5 mm long. Capsules and seeds unknown.
