Characteristics

Plants 300-450 mm high. Corm 10-20 mm diam.; tunics of relatively soft, dark brown fibres. Stem straight, with long basal internode, several-branched above, branches short, held close to stem, flexed below rhipidia, bearing attenuate sheathing leaves 20-30 mm long, usually ± dry in upper half. Foliage leaf solitary, basal, sheathing lower 1/2 of stem, falcate above, channelled, 12-20 mm wide. Rhipidial spathes attenuate, inner 35-40 mm long, outer 1/2-2/3 as long. Flowers fugaceous, pale yellow (pale pink), tepal limbs with dark yellow nectar guides at bases outlined in faint grey-green, outspread, sweetly scented, claws ascending, forming a wide cup including filament column and anthers; outer tepals ± ovate, 23-25 x 9-11 mm, claws ± 8 mm long, inner tepals slightly smaller. Filaments united in a column 4-5 mm long, wider at base, tapering above, minutely velvety in lower half; anthers erect, contiguous, 1.5-2.0 mm long, yellow; pollen white. Ovary narrowly club-shaped, 6-7 mm long, often lightly dark speckled; style branches short, ± 1 mm long, deeply forked, tips stigmatic and emerging between or arching just above anthers, crests lacking. Capsules obovate-truncate, 7-10 mm long.
