Characteristics

Plants mostly 270-400 mm high, sometimes in small clumps, often with collar of fibres around base. Corm ± 10 mm diam.; tunics of coarse, brown fibres extending upwards in a collar around base. Stem 2 or 3 internodes long, usually 2-or 3-branched, sheathing leaves 50-60 mm long, green with dry, brown attenuate tips. Foliage leaf solitary, linear, channelled, as long or shortly exceeding stem, erect below, often trailing distally, 3-4 mm wide. Rhipidial spathes with dry, attenuate apices, inner spathe 50-60 mm long, outer ± 2/3 as long. Flowers long-lived, 45-50 mm diam., either bright orange or creamy green, limbs of all tepals with narrow yellow band edged brown distally and claws uniformly brown; outer tepals 26-30 x 20 mm, limbs spreading ± horizontally, claws poorly differentiated from limbs, 6-7 mm long; inner tepals similar but smaller, 23-25 x ± 15 mm. Filaments ± 4 mm long, united below in a slender column, free and diverging in distal 0.4 mm; anthers 6-8 mm long, exceeding style crests, brown; pollen orange. Ovary ± cylindric, ± 10 mm long; style branches 4 x 1-2 mm, narrow, brown, crests short, ± 1.5 mm long, triangular, orange. Capsules club-shaped to elliptic, 12-15 mm long. Seeds angled, prismatic.
