Plants 15-35 cm. high.. Corm globose, 1.8-2.5 cm. in diameter, the tunics of fine to medium textured reticulate fibres.. Cataphylls ± membranous, pale or flushed red or purple.. Foliage leaf solitary, 2/3 as long to slightly longer than the stem, channelled, the margins sometimes inrolled, 4-6 mm. wide.. Stem with 1-4 branches, only 2 or 3 internodes long, the sheathing leaves with very short sheaths.. Rhipidial spathes acuminate, the inner 4-5 cm. long, the outer ± 1/2 as long.. Flowers blue to violet, the outer tepals with yellow nectar guides at the base of the limbs.. Outer tepals ± 3 cm. long, the limb ± 1.6 cm. long, spreading horizontally or slightly below the horizontal; inner tepals ± 2 cm. long, the limbs also spreading.. Filaments ± 7 mm. long, free in the upper 1/2-2/3; anthers ± 6 mm. long.. Ovary 8-12 mm. long, included in the spathes, the style-branches ± 1 cm. long, crests 6-8 mm. long.. Capsules evidently oblong and ± 1.2 cm long, included in the spathes.. Fig. 2/3.
