Plants small to medium, 80-200 mm high. Corm 10-20 mm diam.; tunics of hard, blackish fibres. Stem with a long basal internode and first leaf inserted well above ground, flexed above each node, much-branched and rounded in shape. Foliage leaves several, lowermost inserted above ground, blades of all leaves channelled, lightly undulate, up to 150 mm long, 12-18 mm wide, leaves produced at all nodes. Rhipidial spathes grey-green, inner 35-50 mm long, ± attenuate, outer sheathing below with the upper half leafy and arching outward. Flowers pale yellow, all tepals limbs with dark yellow nectar guides at bases outlined in grey-green, spreading and often twisted through 90º, claws erect and clasping lower part of filament column; outer tepals obovate 17-19 x ± 8 mm long, claws ± 2 mm long, inner tepals slightly smaller. Filaments 6-7 mm long, united in a slender column papillate in lower 1/3, free in upper ± 1 mm and diverging; anthers 2-3 mm long, arched, yellow; pollen yellow. Ovary ± narrowly club-shaped, 7-9 mm long; style branches flattened, ± 2 mm long, diverging, stigmatic lobes erect, crests ± 1.5 mm long, directed inward. Capsules oblong-club-shaped, 10-15 mm long.

Cormous geophyte, up to 350 mm tall, with numerous branches crowded in a rounded cluster. Leaves few, linear-lanceolate, margins undulate to crisped. Flowers enclosed in green spathes, pale yellow, greenish grey in centre, tepals with short clasping claws, limbs spreading, twisted, filaments in a slender column, style branches with short crests.
