Plants 50-70 cm. high.. Corm ± 1.5 cm. diameter, tunics of pale fine to medium-textured fibres.. Cataphylls brown, irregularly broken to ± fibrous.. Foliage leaf linear, much exceeding the stem, channelled, 5-7 mm. wide.. Stem unbranched, with 4-5 imbricate sheathing leaves 6-10 cm. long.. Rhipidium single, terminal, spathes green, dry and brown apically, inner 9-13 cm. long, outer ± 2/3 as long as the inner.. Flowers blue to violet with white to pale yellow nectar guides on the outer tepals.. Outer tepals lanceolate, (5.7-)6.5-8 cm. long, the limb 3-4.5 cm. long, ± as long as or exceeding the claw; inner tepals erect, lanceolate, 5.5-7.5 cm. long.. Filaments 1.3-1.7 cm. long, free in the upper 1/2-1/3; anthers 1.2-1.5 cm. long.. Ovary ± 2 cm. long, included or exserted from the spathes; style-branches ± 2.5 cm. long, crests ± 2 cm. long.. Capsules narrowly ovoid, ± 3 cm. long.
