Characteristics

Plants solitary, small, 20-30 mm high. Corm up to 10 mm diam.; tunics brown, with prominent woody vertical ribs. Stem underground, extending 20-40 mm above ground in fruit. Foliage leaves 3 or 4, bifacial, ± flat or shallowly channelled, outer ± prostrate, acute and acuminate, undulate, 15-35 x ± 8 mm, margins hyaline, smooth. Rhipidial spathes not distinct from leaves; with (1)2 or 3 flowers per plant. Flowers fugaceous, bell-shaped, white with yellow centre, tepals with turquoise markings in midlines; perianth tube 7-10 mm long, cylindric; tepals 9-12 x 5-6 mm. Filaments 3-4 mm long, united below in a cylindric column, free and diverging in upper 0.6-1.5 mm, yellow; anthers 1.5-2.0 mm long, yellow; pollen yellow. Ovary ± globose, ovoid, ± 4 mm long; style diverging near anther bases, arms reaching ± middle of anthers, stigma lobes with entire, minutely ciliate margins, lobes separate or ± continuous at edges. Capsules and seeds not known.
