Characteristics

Plants erect, 120-400 mm high. Corm 15-20 mm diam.; tunics of dark, medium-textured fibres extending upward around base as a fine network. Stem erect, usually 2-or 3-branched. Foliage leaf solitary, ± basal, linear, falcate, narrowly channelled, longer than and trailing distally, margins straight. Rhipidial spathes with dry, brown, attenuate apices, inner 40-65 mm long; outer ± 2/3 as long. Flowers fugaceous, white or blue-mauve, outer tepal limbs with yellow nectar guides at bases, reflexed to ± 40º; outer tepals 40-47 x 12-14 mm, limbs lanceolate, claws 20-22 mm long; inner tepals narrowly lanceolate, 35-40 x ± 7 mm, subacute. Filaments 10-12 mm long, united in lower half; anthers ± 6 mm long. Ovary ± ellipsoid, 8-18 mm long, included; style branches 10-12 mm long, crests lanceolate, 15-25 mm long. Capsules club-shaped, 12-20 mm long, beaked. Seeds unknown.
