Plants mostly 300-500 mm high. Corms 10-18 mm diam.; tunics pale to dark brown, soft textured, inner layers ± entire, outer becoming vertically split, eventually fibrous. Stem flexed above sheath of foliage leaf, with long above-ground internode, sticky below upper nodes (rarely not sticky), with 1(2) sheathing leaves, 30-50 mm long, usually ± obtuse. Foliage leaf solitary, inserted shortly above ground level, firm to rigid, exceeding stem, terete. Rhipidial spathes dark green, distal margins brown, mostly truncate or obtuse at apex, inner 50-75 mm long, outer ± half as long. Flowers fugaceous, bright yellow, outer tepal limbs with nectar guide consisting of longitudinal lines of dark dots and yellow background; outer tepals 38-50 mm long, limbs slightly longer than claws; inner tepals 25-35 mm long, usually erect, obtuse. Filaments 6-12 mm long, united at base for ± 1 mm; anthers 7-9 mm long; pollen yellow (white). Ovary 9-15 mm long, exserted, cylindric-triangular to ± 3-winged, style branches 14-18(-22) mm long, crests slightly to significantly shorter than style branches, 14-22 mm long. Capsules cylindric, shallowly 3-lobed, mostly 15-20 mm long. Seeds large, flat, discoid.
