Characteristics

Plants 500-900 mm high. Corm globose, 14-18 mm diam.; tunics of pale, coarse vertical fibres connected by fine cross strands. Stem of 4(5) internodes, simple or usually 1-to 3-branched, sheathing leaves 50-65 mm long, with dry, attenuate-filiform apices. Foliage leaf solitary, basal, ± twice as long as stem, channelled, 3-10 mm wide (when opened flat). Rhipidial spathes with dry brown attenuate apices, inner 55-70(-90) mm long, outer 45-65 mm long. Flowers long-lived, cream-coloured, yellow-green or ± beige, outer tepal limbs with large, darkly spotted dull yellow nectar guides at bases, claws similarly dotted, inner tepals light to reddish brown; outer tepals 20-28 x 10-13 mm, claws ascending, channelled, 7-14 mm long, with large basal nectary opposed by a lobe ± 2 mm long, limbs 14-19 mm long, reflexed 45°-60°, inner tepals 13-19 x 4-5 mm, ascending, channelled below, usually trilobed, median lobe linear, curving inward, laxly asymmetrically coiled, lateral lobes rounded, obtuse, up to 2 mm long, or limb ovate-attenuate. Filaments 8-12 mm long, united in lower ± 5.5-10.0 mm, diverging in upper 1.8-2.5 mm; anthers 4-6 mm long, shortly exceeding stigma lobes, orange. Ovary ellipsoid-3-lobed, 11-14 mm long, exserted; style branches ± 6 x 2 mm, diverging, crests lanceolate, 3-5 mm long. Capsules cylindric, 25-32 mm long. Seeds angular.
