Characteristics

Plant small, inconspicuous, usually solitary, mostly up to 25 mm high. Corm 8-10 mm diam.; tunics finely fibrous with prominent vertical ribs. Stem underground at flowering. Leaves ascending or lower ± prostrate, ± linear or narrowly lanceolate, channelled, 20-40 x ± 2 mm, margins smooth or rarely sparsely and minutely ciliate. Rhipidial spathes hardly distinct from leaves, with 1 to 3 flowers per plant. Flowers fugaceous, yellow, cup-like; perianth tube 5-10 mm long; tepals subequal, obovate, spreading in upper half, 10-15 x 5-8 mm. Filaments 4.5-5.0 mm long united in ± cylindric column or free in upper 1/3; anthers erect, 1.5-2.0 mm long, diverging, yellow; pollen yellow. Ovary ovoid, ± 3 mm long; style slender, dividing ± opposite upper 1/3 of anthers, branches deeply and irregularly fringed, tangled in anthers. Capsules and seeds unknown.
