Characteristics

Tree to 15 m., with smooth grey bark; shoots dark brown, glabrous, 8-10 mm. wide with round leaf-scars ± 7 mm. in diameter.. Leaves not seen.. Inflorescences subterminal, lax, some axes at least 15 cm. long, glabrous; total flower-stalks up to 3 cm. long but true pedicels ± 2 mm. beyond the joint.. Receptacle 1.5 mm. long, 4.5 mm. wide.. Sepals pale pink, deeper at the base, narrowly oblong to oblong-lanceolate, 1.7-1.9 cm. long, 4.5-5 mm. wide, acute, drying brownish, finely pubescent outside save for median part.. Petals cream, some bent, others straight, linear-oblong, 2 cm. long, 4.5 mm. wide or with part 8 × 4 mm. at apex and basal part 6 × 3.5 mm., finely pubescent at apex outside.. Stamens white, decimate, 1.1-1.3 cm. long, with white anthers 3 mm. long; staminodes 7 mm. long; filaments of both stamens and staminodes densely hairy at the base, almost forming a hairy appendage.. Ovary pink, oblong-ellipsoid, 2.5 mm. long on a stipe 3.5 mm. long; style 9 mm. long; all parts glabrous.. Young pods greenish turning grey-brown; ripe pods 53-57 cm. long, 1.6-1.8 cm. wide, with 2 grooves on each valve.. Seeds greenish; body ellipsoid-trigonous, 1.7 cm. long, 1 cm. wide, slightly rugose, with 3 prominent wings separated by distinct sinuses; overall length of seed 5.5 cm. long, 1.6 cm. wide..
