Annual erect herb 5–12(–40) cm. high, entirely covered with bulbous-based hairs which are often surrounded with cystoliths; stems simple or slightly branched, slender.. Leaves oblong to oblanceolate-oblong, 0.25–3.5 cm. long, 0.6–11 mm. wide, obtuse at the apex, truncate at the base; midrib visible beneath.. Flowers small, subsessile, in scorpioid cymes with a few leafy bracts in lower part only.. Calyx deeply divided into linear-lanceolate to oblong lobes 1.5–2 mm. long, slightly accrescent in fruit, hispid, some of the hairs hooked..
