Characteristics

Stem erect, almost simple, about 0.3 m [as '1 ft.'] high, pilose; leaves broadly linear, obtuse, the lower attenuate below and 51 mm [as '2 in.'] by 6 mm [as '3 lin.'], scabrid with rather long bulbous-based hairs on the upper surface and margins, almost glabrous below; cymes racemose, elongate; pedicels at length 4 mm [as '2 lin.'] long; calyx 5-lobed to below the middle, hirsute outside, 2.1 mm [as '1 lin.'] long; lobes obtuse, 1-nerved; corolla blue; tube slightly longer than the calyx; lobes suborbicular; anthers oblong; style slightly shorter than the corolla-tube; nutlets white.

Leaves sessile; blade basally narrowly obovate, up to 20 x 4 mm, apex obtuse, decurrent, base attenuate, upper surface scabrid, lower surface almost glabrous. Flowers: in scorpioid cymes; calyx 1-nerved; corolla ± 2-3 mm long, blue, fornices yellow; Dec.-Mar.
