Characteristics

Shrub or small tree to 4 m high. Leaves: petiole 5–10 mm long; lamina lanceolate to oblanceolate, strongly asymmetrical, 6.2–16.5 cm long, 8–4.2 cm wide, cuneate to attenuate base, entire margin, acute to obtuse apex, discolorous, chartaceous to coriaceous, glands pellucid chiefly globular, obvious as bumps on surface when dry. Inflorescence with 4–6 flowers per fascicle, peduncles 1–2 mm long. Flowers chiefly 4-merous; pedicels 2–3 mm long; calyx similar in both sexes; corolla in male campanulate, lobes initially tending to adhere to 4.5–5 mm long, most of the adaxial surface covered with rusty glandular papillae; anthers to 1.5 mm long; pistillode c. 1.25 mm long. Pistillate flowers only seen in bud; ovules 4. Fruit not seen.
