Characteristics

Shrub to 2 m high, often multi-stemmed; bark light grey. Leaves: petiole 2–7 mm long; lamina, elliptic to obovate, slightly asymmetrical, 3–8 cm long, 1.5–3.2 cm wide, cuneate base, flat to slightly revolute and weakly undulate margin, obtuse apex, glossy green above, paler below, coriaceous, glands chiefly globular orange-red, some lineate pellucid. Inflorescence with 3–5 flowers per fascicle, peduncles 1–2 mm long. Flowers 4-merous, pedicels 0.2–0.5 mm long; calyx and corolla similar in both sexes, female slightly smaller, corolla campanulate, to 2 mm long, creamy-green; anthers to 1 mm long; pistillode stigma weakly branched; ovary globular to 1 mm long; stigma thick, elongated, branched, 2–4 arms; ovules 4. Fruit globular, to 4 mm diam., purple.
