Characteristics

Tree to 20 m high; bark nondescript; branchlets often glaucous, lenticels corky, prominent. Leaves: petiole 3–4 (–10) mm long; lamina oblanceolate to obovate, asymmetrical, 5–7.1 cm long, 1.5–2.5 cm wide, cuneate to attenuate base, revolute margin, emarginate apex, discolorous, coriaceous, glands pellucid, globose, occasional lineate streak near midrib and base of lamina. Inflorescence with 4–6 flowers per fascicle, peduncles to 2 mm long; mature flowers not seen; fruiting pedicels 4–5 mm long. Calyx lobes 5, spreading in fruit to 1 mm long. Fruit depressed-globular, c. 4 × 5 mm, purple to purplish blue.
