Characteristics

Antherless staminodes and fertile stamens ± adnate to the base in 4 verticils; the outer one forming a radiate or cup-shaped pseudocorolla with 20-40 pleats; the second comprising numerous narrowly ligulate staminodes free or nearly so; the third of staminodes connate for more than the lower 1/2 and forming a 20-60 lobed cup with the lobes inflexed; and the fourth connate with the third and composed of intermixed staminodes and fertile stamens; anthers oblong, 1-locular.
