Characteristics

Herba annua e basi ramosa, rarius simplex, 10-20 cm alta, rami adscendentes, inferne parce superne densius glanduloso-pilosuli. Folia in parte basali caulis frequentiora, ovata obsolete denticulata vel saepius elongata lineari-oblonga fere integra subglabra. Racemus primo confertus demum elongatus; pedicelli glandulosi 5-10 mm longi, fructiferi conspicue elongati patentes. Sepala ovato-elliptica anguste hyalino-marginata subinaequalia ciliolato-glandulosa vel fere glabra 2-2.5 mm longa, 1.2-1.5 mm lata. Corolla extus purpurascens vel purpureo-violacea intus azurea sub palato flava basi calcare subrecto 7-8 mm longo ornata; labii superioris segmenta lateralia anguste rhomboidea 5-6 mm longa, 2.5 mm lata, mediani bipartiti lobi sublineares 8 mm longi 2 mm lati; labium inferius emarginatum 6-7 mm longum 5.5 mm latum in palato bicalloso puberulum. Stamina longiora 2.5 mm longa. Ovarium 1 mm longum, stylus 1 mm longus. Capsula ambitu semiovata apice truncata, apice obsolete bicornis, immatura circ. 5 mm longa, 5.5 mm lata.

Flowers in lax racemes, calyx lobes oblong to ovate, corolla 14-25 mm long, pale violet, occasionally yellow, with deep yellow or orange palate, spur 6-7 mm long, projecting backwards and bent sharply downward in distal half.
