A rigid herb, apparently perennial, softly pubescent, much branched, 1 ft. high or more; branchlets making a rather small angle with the branches, rather slender, win, straight, moderately leafy, obscurely quadrangular, striate, opposite; leaves opposite, lanceolate, acute at the apex, a little narrowed at the usually 5-nerved sessile or sub-sessile base, firmly herbaceous, serrate-toothed 1/4-13/8 in. long, 1/10-2/5 in. broad, the upper bract-like; flowers axillary, about 1/2 in. long, arranged in terminal leafy rather lax racemes 3-6 in. long; peduncles 1/2-2/3 in. long, firm, the upper successively shorter; flowers about 1/2-2/3 in. long; calyx-segments linear-lanceolate, or sublinear, subobtuse, pubescent, 1/6-1/5 in. long in flower, 1/4-1/3 in. long in fruit; upper corolla-lip 1/3-2/5 in. long; its lobes oblong, 1/6-1/5 in. long; lower lip about 1/3 in. long, rounded, convex, umbonate; palate bearded; spur conical-prolonged, obtuse, about 1/4 in. long; capsule obovate-oblong, broadly notched at the apex, not or scarcely contracted near the apex, unequally narrowed towards the base, 1/4-3/8 in. long, 1/6-1/4 in. broad; valves rounded at the apex; seeds tuberculate, broadly winged, together with the wings 1/14 in. long and 1/16 in. broad.

Perennial shrublet, up to 400 mm tall. Leaves lanceolate to narrowly triangular, sessile or subsessile. Flowers in lax terminal racemes, calyx lobes lanceolate, glandular pubescent, corolla white to pink (rarely salmon-pink), upper lip with oblong lobes, lower lip with convex pubescent palate with twin yellow bosses, spur ± 4-6 mm long, projecting downwards. Capsule oblong-ovate, apex emarginate.
