Perennial herb, up to 0.75 m high. Stems well branched from woody base; glandular-hairy. Leaves opposite; blade narrowly ovate to ovate, 20-45 x 10-20 mm, margins coarsely dentate. Flowers: often clustered; spur up to 3.5 mm long; calyx with lobes linear to narrowly elliptic, posticous lobes mostly 3.0-3.5 mm long at anthesis, tube ± 2 mm long; corolla white, pink or light violet, palate yellow, without bosses at mouth of spur; spur linear, 2-4 mm long, ± parallel to pedicel; Nov.-Apr. Fruit an ellipsoid capsule, 5-12 x 4-7 mm.
