Compact, erect subshrub 0.35 (–0.5) m high; stems terete, 2.5–5 mm in diam., internodes 0.5–5 mm long at base, 2–10 mm near apex, tomentose with white, simple hairs and dark-coloured stellate hairs. Leaves coriaceous, lowermost sessile, linear-lanceolate, 10–25 mm long, 5–10 mm wide, slightly to moderately arched, apex acute, base contracting gradually towards the petiole, clasping the stem for ⅔ its circumference, margin sparsely fimbriate, with 4–6 longitudinal veins either side of midrib, tendril to 1 cm long, straight; uppermost leaves similar, but 30–90 mm long, 7–14 mm wide, moderately arched, conduplicate, margin entire or rarely slightly fimbriate, longitudinal veins 3 or 4 either side of midrib, tendril to 6 cm long, kinked or coiled. Lower pitchers ovoid, 1.5–3 cm long, 0.5–1 cm wide, constricted below midpoint, a pair of ventral wings usually present from below the mouth and diminishing towards tendril, usually with multi-cellular fringe elements 0.4–1.2 mm long, mouth oblique and subovate, peristome subcylindric to slightly flattened, 0.4–1.2 mm wide, ribs 0.05–0.2 mm apart, 0.05–0.10 mm high, outer margin entire, revolute, inner margin with minute teeth, lid suborbicular, 5–14 mm long, 3.2–13 mm wide, complanate, apex rounded, abaxial surface with crateriform glands evenly distributed, spur straight, usually simple, 1–3.5 mm long. Upper pitchers cylindrical, 3.5–6 cm long, 1–1.5 cm wide, with a hip below the midpoint, wings reduced to ridges, fringe elements absent, mouth oblique, subovate, peristome subcylindrical to slightly flattened, 1–2 mm wide, teeth on inner marging to 0.1 mm long; lid suborbicular, 10–20 mm long, 10–15 mm wide, vaulted, lower consistently red in colour, apex rounded, sometimes retuse, crateriform glands suborbicular, 0.15–0.20 mm across, 250–300 glands per cm2; spur straight, usually simple, 2.5–6 mm long. Inflorescence a racemose panicle, male inflorescence to 10 cm long, peduncle 2.5–5 cm long, abracteate, rachis 2.5–5 cm long, indumentum of dense simple, white hairs present except on adaxial surface of tepals and staminal column, 1 (–3)-flowered, up to 50 flowers, pedicels 2.5–5 mm long, abreacteate, tepals 2–3.5 mm long, 1–2.5 mm wide, adaxial surface with pitted nectar glands, staminal column 0.8–1.3 mm long, anther-head c. 1.5 mm in diam.; female inflorescence to 10 cm long, peduncle 4–6 cm long, abracteate, rachis 4–6 mm long, pedicels 1-flowered, up to 35 flowers, pedicels 2.5–5 mm long, abracteate, tepals 2.5–3 mm long, c. 1.5 mm wide, indumentum dense except on adaxial surface of tepals and stigma surface, fruit 3.5–6 mm long, seeds fusiform, 2.7–3.5 mm long.
