Nerine platypetala G.Mcneil

Pubescent pedicels and ovary, but exappendiculate stamens, the perianth segments in shape and arrangement are quite unlike those of any other species of Nerine. The base of the segment is folded for about 1 mm and is only 1 mm or so wide, it then flares suddenly to a width of 5. 6 or 7 mm for most of its length, the end is notably blunt, especially with the inner segments. The outer segments have the white haired apiculus of the genus. The segments can be up to 2-5 cm long and are only a little waved at their edges. The colour is a glittering pale pink with a prominent central rose-red streak on the basal half and a more general red rose flush at the base. The terminal half of the reverse outer side has a bright green rib similar to that found in the miniature N. gracilis and one or two other species. The scape averages around 40 cm in length and the narrow leaves, 5 mm at base, may grow to 45 cm.
