Characteristics

A stiffly erect herb up to 60 cm tall, stems simple or corymbosely branched, sparsely pilose, viscid, closely leafy. Leaves appressed, up to c. 40 x 4 mm, but often only 20 x 3 mm, linear, linear-lanceolate or ovate-lanceolate, apex acute, lower attenuated at the base, upper clasping, scabrid-pubescent, viscid. Heads small (c. 2 mm across), crowded in corymbose clusters, bright yellow. Involucral bracts in 2 series, oblong-lanceolate, scarcely equalling the flowers, minutely glandular, keels faintly resinous. Achenes 0.75 mm long, elliptic, slightly compressed, faintly ribbed, thinly hairy with hooked hairs, gland-dotted. Pappus bristles few, short, soon caducous.
