Characteristics

Leaves variable in shape often on the same plant, the simple ones up to c. 6 x 0.8 cm, oblong or oblong-obovate, others pinnatipartite with 1-2 pairs of spreading lobes up to c. 5 mm broad, apex obtuse, abruptly mucronulate, base narrowed, half-clasping, margins generally entire, pubescent or nearly glabrous. Heads in compact corymbs, corymbosely arranged, bright yellow. Involucral bracts in c. 2 series, oblong-lanceolate, glabrous, pilose or glandular, each with a dark, resinous keel. Achenes c. 0.75-1.5 mm long, elliptic, very slightly compressed, appressed pubescent. Pappus of short scabrid bristles.
